Nestled in the scenic hills of southwest Georgia, Hodges Hobby All Electric Fly In (HHAEFI) returned to Andersonville this October 17-19, 2024, welcoming RC enthusiasts from across the nation. Hosted at the renowned Mac Hodges field—a sprawling 1,400-foot grass runway—this event has become a cherished tradition for those passionate about electric-powered models.
A Welcoming Atmosphere for All
The overarching theme of HHAEFI is simple: to bring people together to enjoy their shared love of the RC hobby. This inclusive event invites all types of electric aircraft, including planes, helicopters, RC cars, and even boats, creating a diverse and vibrant atmosphere. With the beautiful backdrop of Hodges Field and its reputation as one of the premier RC locations in the Southeast, the event offers a perfect setting for both seasoned pilots and newcomers.
A Hub for RC Excellence
Hodges Field, famous for hosting high-profile events like Wings Over America and Dino Warbirds Fly-In, consistently draws large crowds. From gliders to full-size turbines, the venue provides something for everyone. At HHAEFI, Friday and Saturday midday demos are a highlight, showcasing the skills of some of the world’s best pilots. This is not a competitive event but rather a chance for pilots to refine their craft in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Star Visitors and FMS Models
This year’s HHAEFI continued to draw notable attendees, including the popular YouTuber Cleetus McFarland, an avid RC enthusiast who has visited for two years in a row. For FMS Hobby, it marked a special return after a brief hiatus. The FMS booth received a warm welcome, with attendees buzzing about the new models on display. The spotlight shone on the 90mm Avanti Anniversary Edition with vectored thrust, alongside crowd favorites like the F-86 “The Huff,” MXS 300, Ranger 1800mm, Ranger 1220, and the Viper 70mm Anniversary Edition.
Raffles, Night Flying, and Combat
Beyond the demos and displays, HHAEFI offers plenty of action to keep attendees engaged. Night flying sessions, full-contact combat challenges, and a raffle boasting over $5,000 in prizes ensured there was never a dull moment. The event is designed to celebrate every aspect of RC flying, from ultra-micro to giant-scale models, FPV, 3D aerobatics, and everything in between.

Another great video from the year before, which features a few flights that I piloted. and shows a lot of the cool things that go on at this event.
