Description

The Hawker Typhoon, was a British single-seat fighter-bomber, produced by Hawker Aircraft. When the Luftwaffe brought the formidable Focke-Wulf Fw 190 into service in 1941, the Typhoon was the only RAF fighter capable of catching it at low altitudes; as a result it secured a new role as a low-altitude interceptor. From late 1942 the Typhoon was equipped with bombs and from late 1943RP-3 ground attack rockets were added to its armoury. With those weapons and its four 20mm Hispano cannon, the Typhoon became one of the Second World War's most successful ground-attack aircraft.

Take to the skies with one of FMS’s latest offerings, the Hawker Typhoon 1100mm PNP! This scale 1100mm wingspan warbid is a sight to behold. Reinforce wing surfaces allow flyers to perform advanced maneuvers like point rolls, barrel rolls, Immelmanns, half-Cubans, and split S with ease. Retractable landing gear, 3-blades prop with spinner, and spit flaps all add to the realism of this incredible model. This plane has the power, detailed features, and durability that discerning flyers will appreciate, if you are looking for a British warbirds fighter, this is a great choice for you.

Excellent plane

The CG specifications are completely out of reality. The plane flies great with 55-60mm from leading edge cg. But other than that, out of the box the plane handles very well with the specified control throws and the retracts seem reasonably robust.

1100mm Typhoon

Great flying plane. Love the retractable landing gear and flaps. This plane is super fast. I recommend adding a reflex v3. This is now my favorite. I use a 3200 MAH lipo battery to achieve the correct cg. And am currently getting 8-10min flight times. Wonderful addition to my hanger.

So close to being great

I've had this 1100mm Typhoon for about a year now. This is a really GOOD plane and is one of my favorites. Like most other reviewers, I had to add nose weight to get close to the correct CG (not where the manual says). It flies very well at +/- 70% throttle and above, handles wind easily without a gyro, is nimble for a warbird, and it looks GREAT in the air. Take offs are easy for a tail dragger but need to keep some power in on landings or it will stall. With a 2200 3S Spektrum pack I can get 4 minute + flight times.

I took a star off because, in my opinion, you should not need to add nose weight to a stock plane to get the correct CG, the landing gear servos are fragile (had to replace twice), and it feels heavy/under powered for its size. I would really like to see it on 4S and with the weight and balance issue fixed. Regardless, still one of my favorites.

Hawker Typhoon

I definitely like the looks of this warbird and the assembly was straight forward. What troubles me is with the recommended battery you still need additional weight to get the CG in range.
The design needs more space in the nose for this.

My maiden flight was a disaster. Right after takeoff in safe mode she flipped inverted in the blink of an eye. Broke the prop, spinner and motor mount plus chewed up the foam around the nose.
It’s repairable but it will not be as pretty.

Great flying plane. Awesome looking.

I put 1.5 oz of lead on the outside of the plane in the little nose grill. Using 2200mah 3s 40c turnigy $11 battery. Slide the battery tray and battery as far down and forward as possible, then tuck the esc and connector in there over the battery every flight. Flies great then. Typical warbird on takeoff and landing, can nose over if you don’t play the elevator correctly. 4.5 minute flights easily but I don’t fly around full throttle.
