Description
Introduction
The J3-Cub was first introduced in the 1930’s as an affordable trainer for the masses. Its success was cast in stone with the threat of WW2 and the Civilian Pilot Training Programme this resulted in the Cub being used to initially train over 80% of all American military pilots.
FMS have created a super detailed version of this aircraft and reduced assembly time. Giving you more time to enjoy the great flying characteristics of this 1400mm span Cub. There is plenty of thought gone into this aircraft and it shows with a high part count and scale detailing.
Notes to buyers:
RTF (Ready to Fly) airplanes come with everything you need to fly in the box. A transmitter, receiver, battery, charger, and all other required electronics are included and pre-installed from the factory.
PNP (Plug-and-Play) airplanes include the ESC, motor, and servos all pre-installed from the factory. Transmitter, receiver, battery, and charger are not included.

Bought this to compare to the hobbyking Swiss cub. Little smaller but so much better. More detail better landing gear battery compartment and it flies as expected. Like the floats but haven’t used them. Love the plane love FMS so far haven’t been disappointed look forward to the next addition to my hanger.
Awesome model, flies wonderfully. Will be seeing a lot of flight time with this one!
The struts wouldn't clip in and finely I had to CA them on. It took a month to get a couple of parts I needed. Nothing told me they were coming from china until I called to find out why it was taking so long. The Super EZ I ordered at the same time was missing the brackets for the floats. (still haven't gotten them)
So after crashing the first plane i ran out and bought a second, as you do.
Still was able to fix up the first one, here are my thoughts as of now, number 1# battery compartment, very tight for a 2200 3 cell, so tight you may want to slightly bevel the short side under the landing gear, and loading the wires facing toward your motor, i almost never got out the battery with the wires facing toward the tail, the slip into the tray and you have to have a pull or horn to wedge the battery out.
It flys really really good on 1300MAH 3 cell, so good it makes me question if the motor needs to be that big, because it flys heavy with a 2200 Mah, I think this plane suffers a little from over powered, but you can just fly it steady and slow on 1300 and be happy, no need to push it even past 3/4 power. This plane shines at slower speeds and learning coordinated turns, its fun to push it around loops and large rolls but make sure to treat it as it is, a j3 cub.
The servos leave a little to be desired, they are entry level, at best.
Also could be finer threading for the clevis, its just enough to be able to mechanical tune the control surface, and with how the servos trim, you only have one point on the rod that is gonna be true.
For 200 it was a good first cub, really had to get use to a larger slow airframe, unlike my 850 mm pitts or Eflite eratix.
The landing gear you will most likly have a few hard landings and will bend and break the plastic covers.
Thinking of making this just a float plane.
Tired of rough landings lol
Flys very calm and steady.
But did crash mine on maiden flight, this being hte largest plane i have had yet.
Did a near perfect fake touch in go, run way came up fast so brought it around and tried to snap the rudder around fast and hard with low prop speed, going with the wind.
Im pretty sure the wind finished me off and threw the tail around in to a death spiral.
bent landing gear, broke a small plastic clip from landing gear.
wrinkled fuselage
Broke prop, one side
Cracked top left side of fuselage, just the foam which follows the plastic frame.
Cracked battery bay corner just slightly, might not even have to glue it.
popped wing strut out of square seat.
Bent prop mount shaft slightly.
Surprised i did not break a wing but it fell pretty flat,
I ordered a second one due to the prop shaft being out of stock, and kinda wanting new landing gear, also got mud in the motor so maybe ill be safe and replace that until i can verify the other.
This will be my main cub for awhile, until i build a large balsa.
Battery compartment is tight, battery still stuck in mine.
