Description
The first of the giant 1700 series of aircraft to arrive is the fabulous P51 "Red Tail" Mustang. It features unbelievable scale finishing and best of all requires minimal effort as its simple assembly will have you ready to take to the skies in just several hours.
The airframe features a removable 2 piece wing that is simplistic in attachment and connection, the new FMS 'multi-pin plugs' mean that the complex wiring is now just a single connection per wing and not the usual plate full of spaghetti normally seen in lesser airframes.
The cockpit is adorned with the full complement of dials and levers and the hand painted pilot finishes the effect. Upfront, the scale shape spinner and reinforced nylon four blade propellor really does give a purposeful look. As you would expect, the huge brushless out- runner motor is mated with a top quality ESC enabling stunning flight performance.
Metal gear servos handle all the control surfaces and are fast with great centring performance. The resulting flight performance gives a finesse unseen in a ARTF in this class. Get yourself down your local model shop and order the 1700 Series P51 Mustang and steel the limelight at your airfield.

What a wonderful P-51! I was a bit skeptical about the power and gear from you tube reviews but I am super happy with this 1700mm mustang. It could use more power to fly more like a scale mustang but it has enough power to get it done even at 6300ft ASL. The wheels are stiff but do not make that awful noise that I was anticipating. Very nice ground handling and very quiet. (Not embarrassing to taxi). The take off roll and landings are very nice and easy to control even in moderate crosswinds. Like all tail draggers it can be pretty impossible to turn around in the wind but that’s normal for RC. I’ve flown over 30 sorties and the only issue I’ve had so far is a set screw on the right main got a little loose. This thing is awesome. I would not hesitate to but it again
This is a great looking warbird that comes with a lot of detail. I am interested to buy this model, however all reviewers comment that it is UNDERPOWERED relative to the installed motor. RC Informer (Rich) was able to install two batteries and an upgraded ESC in the F4 Corsair and this plane really comes alive. For the P51D, has anybody upgraded the motor and ESC for this bird? If yes, can you share the parts and where I can buy them. I hope FMS can come up with an upgraded version of this product or offer customization as an option for an increased price. **FMS** Please wake up and improve the product, there is Voice of Customer you ignore.

I have had this plane for 5 years and love it. I decided I wanted some more speed so I moved to a simple 18x10 wood prop and wow did it come alive. Fast speed, major power on the stock system.I did some weathering and more details.
I have the Corsair and the P51, would love to see FMS bring this one back again and or add a 1700MM P40
I gave this one 4 stars not because of the quality and scale detail, it has all that and more, it's a big beautiful warbird but needs to be upgraded FMS to a bigger motor and esc to fly in 8 cell lipos, while I like how it flies scale, it would be nice to have more speed or power. Ide like to see more warbirds in the 1700mm size. I recently did a re scheme on mine, see picture, it woukd be nice if you woukd bring one out in a different scheme other than the red tail, or maybe a B model in the same size. The Shangri-la scheme was the best looking scheme you had.
